How do you witness?

How do you witness to people?

Answer:

When I witness to people I usually use this general method. And when I witness, no I do not use a bullhorn.

(Audience -> unbeliever)

[Point out what happens]
When you die, you will stand before God in Judgment. He will Judge by the standards of the 10 commandments. God will see everything you have ever done in your life. How do you think you will do on that day?

[Bring out the law]
Have you ever lied? That makes you a liar by definition.
Have you ever stolen anything? That makes you a thief.
...
Jesus said if you look with lust, you have committed adultry at heart. Have you ever looked with lust? That makes you an adulterer.

[Try to get them to think and weigh the consequences]
What will happen to you if this is true? If you were judged would you be innocent or guilty? Would you go to heaven or hell? If hell, does this concern you?

[If they seem, share the Gospel, otherwise it is throwing pearls before swine]
God did something wonderful so you won't have to go to hell. He came down in the form of man and lived a perfect life, that you and I can never live. We sin all the time, but Jesus never sinned. Then He went to the cross as a payment for our sins so when we stand before God in His courtroom, we can be set free, because our crimes have been paid for.

[What you have to do to be saved]
God requires that all people repent, which means apologize and turn away from sin. Example: When you get on the internet and start to click onto those perverted websites, you turn the computer off instead.

And the second thing is that you must trust in Christ. Trusting in Him is like jumping out of a plane and trusting in a parachute to get you safely to the ground. In the same way you must trust in Christ that He will take you up to heaven.

[What to do]
Think about these things seriously. You have no promise of waking up alive tomorrow. Eternity is a very serious issue. If you have a bible pick it up and start reading it. Matthew is a good place to start. Read your bible and pray every day and God will lead you in the right direction.


Sometimes I come across believers when witnessing. It is important when witnessing to not assume anyone is saved. I usually do three things with professing believers.
1) Ask if they are saved. Poke around ask questions, and see if they get defencive.
2) Ask how they would witness to someone, to make sure they're equipped for every good work.
3) Ask if there is any sin in their life at the present time, and/or what ministry they are in.

Is this how Evolution Works?

This is from a conversation I had several months back in regards to DNA sequencing.

While I understand your reasoning, I disagree. I believe that life, like evolution, wasn't just a random chain of events. It is a process. After many mistakes, the right combination appears. For instance, if there is a sequence of numbers, say 1 2 3 4 5, the probablility of getting the correct combination is slim to none. But if we generate a few other random sequences and each time we get one correctly we know to stop moving that one, the probability of achieving the correct sequence gets better. For example:

Of course, it would take a lot longer than that with real life, but you see the idea, don't you?

The delima is simple. Does DNA already know what to evolve to?

Here is my question... how do "we know to stop moving that one"? See if you already know that for order to happen it needs to be 1 2 3 4 5 then it is easy to say that "we" know to stop moving that one. But "we" don't control the sequencing of DNA. This example assumes that there is some kind of intelligence necessary in order for things to not be a random chain of events, or it assumes that the DNA itself knows already what to evolve to.

Let's take your example a bit further and see what happens...

Let's start with the age of the Earth. 4.55 billion years old, and advanced bacteria was on the Earth 3,550,000,000 Years ago.

How long would it take to use your template method to come up with the correct order?

Starting with your example, I wrote a little script to calculate the average number of passes it would take to do a combination of 5 numbers. It took on average between 10.67 and 10.81 passes (tries) to come up with 1 2 3 4 5 in order using your method.

It would take 1.4285714286^10 or 14,285,714,286 =~ 14.29 billion attempts using this method to line up all of the numbers in proper order. Review my numbers

Conclusion... If my math is not completely wrong, if the DNA sequence was already perfectly designed and the material simply fell into place, if it took 3.55 Billion years, it would average attempt every 90 days. (i.e. the material would have to line up perfectly)

I suppose if the DNA was already designed such that all the marbles had to do was fall into place, and never change, the within the time, I could see how you'd come to the conclusion to use that method. However strictly speaking, using that method still does not explain DNA without a higher intelligence, simply because the material must "know" to stop mutating when it fits into the right place. If it didn't "know" that then it would be purely random.

Loving God? Omniscient God? Forgiving?

Christians, I would like to discuss this, so I will word this as respectfully as I can.?

I don't understand how the God of Abraham is seen as kind, good, and loving.

I don't understand why "unconditional love" isn't paired with unconditional forgiveness.

I don't understand why, if Jesus was sent to atone for sins, it wasn't just over with right then.

I don't understand how something that supposedly created us can hold us in such contempt.

I don't understand why any of this would have happened, from the Adam and Eve story on, if God was truly omniscient.

I don't see how free will can exist with an omniscient creator.

Have you ever breathed air? Well that's His. He gave it to you. He gave you life. He formed you in your mothers womb as the bible says. He knows the number of hairs on your head. If you don't think giving someone existance, life, breath, and all of the things in this world is not kind, good, or loving, then I'm not sure how you would define those three words.

Because God wants you to love Him back. Of your own free will. Hell isn't the issue, because we all deserve that anyway. God wants a people who will recognize Him and obey Him because they want to, rather than being forced to. If you are unconditionally forgiven, then you would be with god whom you hate forever. Many times the loving thing to do is to let go. That's what God does when He passes Judgment. He lets you go to your own fleshly desires, that lead to death.

In the bible, God works in Ages. The first age was Adam. That didn't work, because Adam sinned. The second age was before the flood. That didn't work, because every thought and desire of men in their hearts were continuously evil. Then the age of the Law. The Jews were made to be the most prosperous nation on the planet at that time, but that didn't pan out. Men started keeping the law for tradition's sake, not because they Loved God. The next age is the age of Grace. That is what Jesus accomplished on the Cross. This age has brought a large amount of division between those who love God and those who love the world. I'm not sure why God setup History like that, but I'll be sure to ask when I get to heaven.

In fact the opposite is true. You hold God in contempt by not believing in Him. Everytime you sin, it shows that you are making yourself an enemy of God. God created you for a purpose. That purpose is to accurately reflect His image on Earth. When you break the commandments, you are rebelling against your purpose and rebelling against your God. You have free choice, and God never changes. God hates sin. He has always hated sin. He will always hate sin. If you love your sin, then you're saying you love what God hates, and make yourself his enemy. God however is patient and Kind. He has given you life to this point.

Omniscient means all knowing. God knew Adam and Eve would sin. That is why He planned Jesus dieing on the cross before the earth was ever created. All of creation points to the single act of Jesus hanging and dieing on that cross. It is a thing that Angels marveled at. The Earth shook, the Sun stopped shining, and that Curtain that separated Man from God was torn at that very hour. God planned it so that all of Creation would worship and adore Him for being so kind and loving and good as to have died for wicked people like us.

It works like this. We have free will. We do what we want, but we are also influenced as well. God knows all things. He sees your life from beginning to end, as He looks at the Earth from the eternal perspective. Since He knows things, He can influence people and directions. But He lets us stay in the drivers seat as long as we want. When we repent and trust in Him, we surrender our lives to Him. We allow Him to drive our life and hold on, in absolute trust that God's promices are true and that He already knows the outcome before we get there.

Because God is also patient and longsuffering. He wants everyone to repent, even those in wars. He allows man to cause his own wars.

God loves the poor and the oppressed and the lowly, and God WILL see to it that all who war unjustly against his neighbor will be duely punished. Because when we die, we stand before God to give an account of our lives. God is a Good and Just Judge. He will punish all the murders, and child molesters, and rapests that got away from human justice...

But God won't stop there. He will give justice to all who have broken His Holy law. If you've lied, God sees you as a liar and you are a lawbreaker. Just as a murderer doesn't see anything wrong with murder, in the same way liars don't see anything wrong with lieing. But God does. And on that day the bible says in Revelation 21 "But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death."

Liars are grouped with murders and sexually immoral, and the cowardly. The bible says we're all guilty of war crimes against God. We all have wared against Him every time we sin. Outward war is just an escalation of the wickedness of the hearts of men.

So when you stand before a Holy and Just and Good God on the day of Judgment, will you be innocent or guilty of breaking His law? Should a Good judge let lawbreakers go free? Or should they be punished.

The bible says we all deserve God's wrath, but God did something so that we don't have to end up in eternal punishment.

Even while we were waring against the Good God of the universe, as many are today, God came down as a man, Jesus Christ, and lived a perfect life, and then died a horrible death on the cross as the payment for your breaking of God's law. He took the punishment that you deserve upon himself, so that you can go free, being Justified before God's court. The bible says that he commands all people to repent of their sins and trust in Jesus as if their eternal life depended on Him, because it does.

In doing this, Jesus demonstrates being the perfect peace-maker, in that He died for his enemies. More specifically, he died for you. And you can be forgiven of your wrongs if you repent and turn from your sins, and trust in Jesus as your Lord. You're commander and chief. Surrender yourself to Him not because of the consequences of hell, but because He was SO Good as to have died for YOU.

It is because God is so loving that he allows men to live out their lives (even in sin) just for the chance that they may repent and trust in Jesus for His eternal sacrifice. That He may be glorified for being such a Good God as to have saved such bad people.

How Has Postmodernism Influenced The Church?

It usually takes the Church several years to accurately reflect American Culture. This can be seen quite clearly in the Christian Music Industry which always seems to be behind the times for one reason or another. Unfortunately, Christianity has now caught up to a postmodern culture and is influencing both Christians and non Christians.

Similarly, Churches themselves seem to have buffer room between them and the latest social philosophies. Modernism, put simply, is the thought of throwing out the old, and embracing the new. Modernism began in the early 1900's and it focused on a push to modernize the world in both the physical and in the thought process. For many years modernistic thought lead the way in terms of art, architecture, as well as leading to great improvements in communication and infrastructure.

Eventually the modernist mindset set into the culture as well. Throughout the late 1900's modernism lead to redefining old concepts such as the family, women's roles in culture and society, relationships, as well as the birth of psychology and psychiatry.

Many churches began to yield to the modern mindset as well by throwing out anything that did not work or produce "results", and embracing newer methods of preaching, relating, inviting, sharing, and growing. The modern evangelical movement still represents much of these turn-key church solutions.

Modernism gave birth to two distinct ideas; postmodernism and holism. Holism in terms of culture is similar to many eastern philosophies such as Buddhism. It is the concept that a system can not be explained by the sum of its parts. This idea is the breeding ground for many eastern mindsets such as Hinduism and Buddhism.

Postmodernism came out of the modern mindset in the late 20th century. It was a response to many problems with modern thought. One of the foundational principles of postmodernism are the ideas of equality in every aspect of life and the willingness to redefine everything that does not meet this goal. Many movements have come out of these lines of thought such as the feminist movement, racial equity movements, gay rights movement as well as anarchism and peace movements.

Today, in 2007, this thought has so saturated the present-day culture, that churches and leaders are yet again folding to the pressure.

Postmodernism has influenced the church in many ways. Today the dominant use, or misuse, of this thought deals with interpretation of scripture. Rather than reading scripture as it was written to understand the ideas that were expressed, many churches of the day are pulling out passages and redefining them to mean what they want. This materializes in many forms, but none more destructive than the prosperity gospel churches and the open-door do-what-you-want churches.

No longer are morals seen as black and white, but postmodernists see multiple shades of gray. There is no right or wrong in this mindset, but rather, whatever you think is the truth.

Another grand aspect of postmodernism is the tendency for personal meaning methodologies. When a church or institution has embraced the doctrine of postmodernism, it can no longer give rules to follow, nor can it exercise church authority. Rather, the church is forced to ask things such as "what does this scripture mean to you", then give a weekly pat on the back and urge people to be good until next week. Then to maintain the different viewpoints, they must always encourage "dialogue" to discuss differing thoughts and opinions, and insist that everyone is always right.

The next stage in the postmodern movement of the church is the emergent church. This concept of church is a constant modification of their ideas and thoughts, and adjusting their doctrine based on new thoughts. In order to keep a steady flow of ideas, the emergent church has moved from asking what passages mean to the person, and started deconstructing the passages based on what they think the people of the day thought the text to mean.

So rather than reading and applying passages in the modern mindset, the emergent movement depends on in depth study of history in addition to biblical documents, to generate, continuously modify and tie together thoughts and concepts. By studying the culture of the time and making endless speculations as to what they think those people of that time thought of the scripture, emergent ideas give a whole new twist to postmodernism.

Put simply, they see the bible as a historical storybook they call "narratives" in which the goal is to build verbal pictures and images of the culture and give multiple possible interpretations of each story. In doing this, they are sure to examine every possible influence upon the text or passage to be sure everyone's perspective is given. Once this happens, theological concepts are extracted from all of the material and proclaimed as truth. Then from there, personal meaning and responsive actions are suggested.

This method is very popular in culture suffering from attention deficit disorder; who are always looking for new twists and new ways to be entertained. With the mixture of music concerts each week, dramatic stories from the bible and history, no condemnation for sin, and practical ways that you can be a good person, who wouldn't want to be a part of this phenomenon?

In the postmodern moral decay, the term Christianity is also corroding. In America, Christianity no longer means adhering to a moral standard or upholding a creed, but rather it has become a generic catch-all term, diminished to mean nothing more than a spiritual social club with good music. Liberal feel-good philosophies are no match for the entertainment value and appeal of the postmodern emergent church.

Why should I believe in God?

Why should I believe in God?

Okay, I consider myself to be a fairly intelligent person so why believe in something if it doesn't make sense to me? If there is no proof after I searched near and far then why would I believe? This isn't a question of whether or not their is proof.

Point is that I find that a personal God is logically impossible. Am I to throw away my findings, surrender my brain, and have faith that something so absurd to me is true? Am I to believe the man in the alleyway that tells me he is Jesus? Am I to believe the drug addict that tells me he needs money to get gas? Am I to be gulible just because someone says I should?

What about the fact that everyone of every religion, Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Hindui claims that their belief is proven and the right one? Christians can’t even get all of their stories straight; some believe in the trinity, hell, and some don’t.

Am I suppose to respect your beliefs when you tell me if I don't I will burn in hell for the rest of time?

First...

It doesn't matter what you "believe" about anything. Not believing in banks doesn't make them NOT exist.

Why should you believe in God? Well if God is real and he wants you to believe in Him, you probably should, seeing as how he's God and he made you.

Second, proof of a God.

Proof of God is all around, it is called everything that exists. With scientific theories of the origins of the Universe and Earth, etc, they always seem to leave out a few small things.

1) Where did matter and energy come from in the first place?
2) How does life form from rocks? If you do the probability statistics on it, it comes out to be 1 chance in 10^300 or more that just the chemical elements would have occurred in the correct sequence to have formed even a simple life form, but even that would have had to have order to it. Then you multiply that by other probabilities of the earth being in the right orbit, with the right type of atmosphere, the chances become incalculable. It is statistically impossible.
3) Based on the laws of physics, it is physically impossible for there not to be something that created all things. See source (1)

But since this isn't a question of proof, let's look at logic.

Second... (assuming that there is a God)

Which god is it? This requires searching and deducing based on facts. Most people look to feelings or experiences to determine their religion, but I've found that logic gives you a much clearer picture.

Let's start here with the question; which god could be the correct god? Let's examine and compare and see where it gets us.

Muslim - God=Allah. According to muslim theology you must adhear to the 5 pillars of islam to have a chance of going to heaven. They beleive God judges people on the last day and will let some people go to heaven and others will go to hell. This is strictly up to their god. There is no Justice involved, but rather the favor of their god towards you. They think they can earn favor by reading the koran and sticking to their pillars. As for allah, it is fully possible for their god allah to lie, as long as it is something he wants to do.

Hindu - Like many eastern faiths, Hindus belive in thousands of gods if not millions. They believe in reincarnation, where your spirit becomes born as an animal or born on some bad planet somewhere, and it goes forever, until you finally get to nervana, which is nothingness. They integrate exercises with their persuit of nothingness. Eastern religions, of them all, are the least logical, and they do not explain any of the deeper questions of life, such as who created these gods they believe in, or who controls or decides what happens if you are reincarnated. Or with population statistics as they are, who is creating all the new souls that are added to this system.

Jewish and Christian - Of all the religions these are the most foundational and reliable. There are thousands of documents and historical records that give reliability of the written old testaments and new testaments. For more on the documents, see Source List 2.

If you are a person who needs evidence, then I would suggest that you get serious and look for yourself. Compare religions for yourself, and see what comes from them. Are they a result of man's imaginations (i'm convinced many are), or is there one that is true. Realize also that they are mutually exclusive, meaning that the claims of one go opposite of the claims of another, so all can not be true, which immediately rules out most eastern philosophies.

Third... Logic of Christianity

I'd like to present to you the logic of the bible, and how to understand it.

First, the bible says that God created man and woman in His own image in Genesis. So that means from the very start that we can deduce attributes of God based on man because man is an image of God, in the same way a painting is an image of man. If you look at a painting of a man, you can deduce that the man has two eyes, nose, mouth, etc. Similarly, looking at man we can deduce that God has emotions, logic, sense of beauty, creativity, etc.

Continuing in Genisis, man was tempted and sinned for the first time by eating a forbidden fruit. This was a single breaking of God's single law. God had setup a rule that man could not eat of it, but man ate of it. From then on, mankind was cursed and taken out of the garden. Over time the bible says mankind started being more and more wicked, to the point that no thoughts of theirs were good at all. And God Judged the world and killed off all of humanity and all the animals of the planet.

This gives us an idea of who God is. As creator, God can do with His creation as He sees fit, but God is long-suffering. He allowed mankind to rebel against him for over 1400 years before He destroyed everything, except one family.

God is patient with evil, but God does demand Justice. It was Just and right that God destroyed all of humanity, because all of humanity abandoned God, their creator. They made themselves as gods, with power struggels, murdering, lusting, and all kinds of immorality. It got to the point that God was sorrowful for even making man.

After the flood human history began and the bible says there was a man named Abraham whom God promised the land of Israel to, and he promised Abraham that his seed would be as the sands of the seashore, too many to count. Today, these people are the Jews that we see spread throughout the world.

So Jewish history began, and the Jews became enslaved to the Egyptions and God sent Moses to set them free. During this time, God established His Law with the Jews, His chosen people. He wrote in stone the 10 commandments, which were not only for the jews but for all mankind.

Now why did God give the Jews His law? The answer is so that mankind would know what God saw as right and wrong. With societies and cultures, if man makes up his own rules in regards to morality, then morality will always shift towards a downward trend. If you examine the history of the early 1900's leading up to World War II, you'll notice the gradual decline in ethics in Germany. That is what lead to the fall of the Roman empire, and the evidence is all over.

Now, since God established his laws governing morality, just as he has established His laws governing physics and mathematics, we should obey them perfectly, right? Objects can not disobey the physical laws of gravity, and similarly we should never disobey the moral laws set forth from God, who also wrote in each of our consciences.

The bible makes it clear that all mankind has broken God's moral laws, which means spiritually we are in trouble. Why? It has to do with what we were created for. We were created to be in the image of God, and the Law shows us the outline of that image. It points us to what we should be at all times.

One of the commandments says that you shall not lie. I personally do not know a single person who has never told a lie, and I would not doubt that all mankind has told at least one lie. Now here is the problem.

Since you are supposed to be in the image of God, if you tell one lie, you are a liar, and not only that but your are telling all of creation that God is a liar. Now the bible says God can not lie, so you are mis-representing God, and by doing that you are making yourself an enemy of God.

Now comes in the concept of the Justice of God. The bible says that God is Just. This means, like in court, God is a Judge and will punish all law breakers. Good judges do their jobs fairly, and everyone hates a corrupt judge. How much more fairly and perfectly good will God judge us, if He is good and we have broken His law.

The bible says when we die, we stand before God in Judgment, and as we have seen, he will judge, not by man's corrupt standards, but His perfect standards which are reflected in the 10 commandments. God must punish sin, whereever it is found.

Imagine a child molester who lived a long life to the age of 80, and during that life he did all kinds of cruel acts to hundreds of children. When he dies, he will deserve full punishment for all of His crimes, and we will all say that God is Good when He sentences a murderer or a child molester or hitler into eternal punishment.

But God does not stop there. He sees all lies as crimes against Himself. We don't think lying is such a bad offense, but, the child molester doesn't think molesting children is a serious offence either, and the murderer is always justified in his own eyes. So too we think that just because we've told a few lies here and there that it's ok. But that is saying that God is a corrupt Judge if you think that He will over look a single crime at all.

So the bible presents a major problem. How can anyone get to heaven? If we all have broken the law, and we all deserve punishment, how can anyone be saved from eternal justice?

The bible says that God provided a solution in Himself. God came down as a Man, Christ Jesus and walked a perfect life. We've all lied, stolen, cheated, and done things we should have. But Jesus was blameless in the site of man and God. Jesus lived the perfect life, that we can't live. Then He willingly allowed Himself to die in one of the cruelest of ways as a payment for your and my sin. The bible says that Jesus took the full and eternal punishment that both you and I deserve, so that if we turn from our sinful ways and trust fully in Him as the only means by which we can be reconsiled with God, then He will grant us eternal life. He will both forgive our sins by not remembering them, and He will not be seen as a bad Judge for letting criminals go free. Rather he will be seen for all eternity as a Good God who paid the price for the lawlessness of His people by paying His own life. And thus satisfying Justice and maintaining His Goodness.

And the bible says the only way to have eternal life is to forsake your sins and consider them as garbage, and then trust and embrace Jesus Christ as the only means by which you can be saved. Belief in Christ however is not some mind exercise. It is daily grabing on to Him just as you would a parachute when jumping out of an airplane. You must trust in Him, and knowing that He died and suffered for you, you will naturally love him more and more.

Your fate does not depend that you believe in some god, but your fate does depend that you Trust in Christ as your savior.

What is your motivation for living?

What is your motivation for continued existence?

Or, what do you get out of life? What's worth living for? And for that matter, what is worth dying for?



You're born, and you don't choose to whom or where.

You live given your circumstances in life.

You die, again having no clue when. It could be tonight.

You are judged by God based on what you did in your life.

You can do nothing to live up to God's perfect standards in life. You lie, cheat, steal, lust, hate, disobey, rebel, blaspheme, backtalk, gossip and covet all throughout your life.

God pulls the books and counts each thing you did wrong. Then he counts the things you thought wrong. He adds them up.

He sees that you have broken His law and you deserve Justice, and there is nothing you can say back. If you tell of your good things that you did, he'll just say that that was what you were supposed to do anyway. So why did you break God's law?

You're found Guilty, no questions asked, and nothing you can do about it. You are bound and shackled and sent to eternal prision away from God.

That is the fate of all mankind. There is no hope for humanity in their own good works, because they're ALL wicked, especially the nice ones. They all think bad, lustful, or hateful things all the time.

So what use is it? Why live? Simple. For you, to go as long as you can before being sent to eternal hell. Because that is what you deserve along with the rest of us. Many try to take comfort in a lie. So be it. But their vein belief won't matter once they die.

So what hope is there? All have fallen short of what God expects, and God must exercise Justice in order to be good.

But God did something so that you or I or anyone here would not have to end up in eternal punishment. God came down from heaven as a man, in Jesus Christ and lived a perfect life. He didn't lie, cheat, steal, etc. He was blameless before man and God. Then He went to His death on a cross. He was beaten and bruised, tortured, and hung by his hands and feet. Then he died.

His death was an exchange for our wicked lives. He suffered punishment for every time you disobeyed your parents, or lied to someone, or lusted after some person. In His suffering on the cross, when you die, you can be set free from prision, because your punishment for your sins has already been paid. But...

You must repent of your sins. That means turn from them. Hate them, and stop doing them. Would you go out and commit murder again if someone paid your fine with his life, after you committed murder the first time? Apologize for your wickedness and turn from it. This may seem hard, but the consequences after you die is much worse.

Then you must trust in Jesus because you owe Him your entire life for dieing for you. You must give Him your life, and hold on to him in the same way you hold on to a parachute to get you safely to the ground. Jesus is the one and only way for you to get safely to heaven after you die. Anything more or less, you risk falling, and going splat.

So since Jesus had done such a wonderful work for me, I should and do thank Him and love Him for his kindness and mercy. While I was yet a lustful self centered sinner, He died for me anyway, knowing that all the sins that I committed, He would have to suffer God's wrath for. So now, every time I sin, I think about the fact that that was one more beating that Jesus endured. Every time I am unjustly angry, I realize that Jesus suffered the punishment for that sin as well. Knowing that I can do nothing but fall on my face and repent of it, and ask for forgiveness. And ask that He would help me not to stay in that sin.

Now, as for living life, to live is for Christ, and to die is gain, because I am completely forgiven by God, my maker, and I have been adopted into His kingdom. When I die physically, there is no loss, because my treasures are in heaven.

Christ is worth living for and worth dying for. There is nothing else, no vanity, no lust, no religion, no person, that is worthy of serving outside of Christ. What I get out of life, is eternal life, and absolute assurance that I will be in heaven, no matter what I do, because I can do nothing right anyway. I am going to heaven because I am not a good person, but I am a bad person saved by a Good God.

So what is going to happen when you die? Will you be innocent or guilty, or will you be freed by God because you lived a life of repentance and trust in Christ? Get right with God today, because tomorrow may never come.

How can someone that is saved be depressed?

I asked Jesus to save me along time ago but Idont know im depressed, how can someone that is saved be depressed?


How do you know you're saved? What is Depression? I'll try to explain what the bible says about these things, and simply ask more questions. Feel free to comment below if you have questions or comments.

First, you say that you asked Jesus to save you long ago. Why did you do that? Was it based on a feeling or was it a true sense of sorrow for your sins and a heart of repentance. I don't know your heart and I don't know if you are saved, so to make sure I will address you as if you weren't.

Understand that the bible says that God will Judge us all on the last day. We could die any time. Today. Tomorrow. Or in 30 years. The bible says that is appointed unto man once to die, then the judgment. So the question on that day of Judgment is will you be found innocent or guilty.

God will Judge based on His 10 commandments. If you have ever told a lie, God sees you as a liar, and Revelation 21 makes it clear that all liars will have their part in the lake of fire. If you have ever taken anything that is not yours you are a thief in God's sight. If you have lusted, you are an adulterer in God's pure eyes. If you have hated, you are seen as a murder in your heart.

God's standards are much higher and greater than ours. So much so that we can do nothing to get to heaven. In fact the bible says that All have fallen short of the glory of God.

So what then shall we do? If God sees us as lawbreakers who have broken His Holy Law, the 10 commandments, what are we going to do on the Last Day? Because He will certainly find all of us guilty and he certainly deserves to cast all of us into the lake of fire.

The fact is, God gave us life, air to breathe, food to eat, an earth to live on, others to care for and be with, and yet we still sin against Him. If you break the rules of a Country, you no longer have the rights of a citizen when in Jail. You can't vote or hold office while in jail. You don't have freedom in jail. In the same way, when we break God's laws we make ourselves enemies of God, awaiting Judgment.

The bible says there is NOTHING we can do to be saved. We can't say 7 prayers a day to be saved. We can't kiss a statue to be saved. We can't eat bread and wine or confess to a priest or anything like that to be saved. We are not worthy of heaven in any way.

But knowing that, and knowing that we make ourselves enemies of God when we break God's law, God did something amazing for us so that we won't have to suffer the Justice that we all deserve.

Do you know what that is? God came down as a man in the form of Jesus Christ and lived the one and only perfect life. He never lied, stole, lusted, hated, or anything that we have done. Then he went to His death on the Cross as a payment for your sins and my sins. The only reason He went to die was because you and I lied and stole and lusted and hated and disobeyed our parents. Knowing that Jesus died for us anyway.

Jesus suffered the punishment that both you and I deserve for breaking God's law through being beaten and the agony on the cross. But then he resurrected on the third day and now lives in Heaven.

So the bible says ALL of your sins have been paid for. Past, present, and future. Every single one. God is that big that He can forgive you of all of your sins... BUT... God requires that we repent of those sins. That means turn from the sins. Despise the sins and desire not to do them any more. We must hate everything that caused Jesus to die on that cross. Then when when turn from our sins, we turn to Jesus, who is so loving and kind and pure and great, to have saved such bad people as you and I. And we embrace Jesus with thanksgiving for having saved us, and he hold on to Him for, not dear life, but eternal life.

Then we can go to heaven, not for being good or worthy people, but for being bad people forgiven by a Good and loving and Holy God. When you are saved, you will be born again in spirit. Your sins will start falling away, because you realize that every time you sin, it Hurts God, and since you love God, you wouldn't want to do anything to hurt God.

Now as a Christian

If you are a Christian, and you struggle with depression, then let me suggest this.

Depression is a sin. You are depressed because you are looking at your own needs and wants and desires and you are seeking your own pleasure and in that you are quite unfufilled. Depression is a form of pride in that you desire others to feel compassionate on you and you feed on that, but what does depression lead to? For many it leads to drinking, drugs, seeking pleasure, and eventually it could lead to suicide. Depression, like pride, is a powerful attack of the enemy and we're all suseptible to it.

How does one overcome depression? Simple. Get your eyes off yourself, and look at Jesus who died for you. He died for YOU! Don't you realize that? Stop the sin of unbelif and believe it. Yes you are pathetic and sinful and all that. But guess what. So am I. So is everyone! So that is no excuse.

Get up and get serving. Get off your own throne and get on your knees with the rest of us. A new season is at hand, and God is doing great works all around.

If your conscience condemns you, then fall on your face before God almighty and repent. Give Him your concerns, because your back wasn't made to bear them. Let Christ control you and give you orders, never let it be the other way around.

Be passionate for your Lord who gave His Life for you. Shower in the Love he has shown you, and give to Him the burdens of your soul.

Open the Word and Read. Be renewed in the Psalms and do not fear the pains of life. Did you know that All but one of the disciples died a horrific death on account of Christ. Paul and Peter in Acts were Rejoicing after being beaten for the sake of Christ.

God's Grace is ALL Sufficient. Come before the throne of God as a sinner and be a Child. Come before God broken and be healed. Come before God weak, and be strong. Come before God's throne. Worship Him. Praise Him. Love Him. Fall before Him because He is So pure and So holy.

Depression, What Depression? When you worship the God of the Universe for All He has done for you... How can you be depressed?

1) God exists and loves Goodness and Justice.
- Creation shows that God exists
- Conscience shows that we do wrong
- If humanity demands justice, how much more will God, because man is made in God's image.

2) It is logical and even necessary given that you understand who God is.
- God is perfect, pure and holy
- God can not stand or look upon any impurity
- God can never lie
- God loves Justice and despises injustice
- God is love, therefore he must hate all that is evil
- God is a Judge of all mankind
- God designed all of mankind and is creator of all, we are His creation, and when we break His law, creation screams justice.

3) The biblical description is clear and consise throughout. Jesus spoke specifically about Hell and what it would consist of.
- Matthew, Jesus mentions Hell, Judgment, over and over.
- Deuteronomy 32 shows God's anger towards sin
- Revelation 20-21 make it astoundingly clear what will happen on the last day.
- Daniel 7 Shows God as a Judge

4) The law. Human laws. Conscience. Morality. They all testify that we will be accountable on the last day.
- Man demands Justice, and payment for breaking laws
- God put His laws in stones (10 commandments)
- God put His laws on our hearts (conscience)
- God is good and holy. He is a judge. He gives mankind time to repent.

5) Understanding the fullness of Hell gives more understanding to God's goodness and kindness.
- Since Hell is real and eternal and terrible, it shows us how horrible sin is, and what God thinks of it. When you realize that eternity in Hell is a Just punishment for sin, it should elevate your view of the grandure, power and holyness of God.
- God demonstrated his Goodness to us that while we are yet sinners and deserve hell, God Himself became a man as Jesus Christ, lived a sinless life, and then died on a cross to pay for the injustice of your sins. There has never been a kinder, nicer, more wonderful thing done for anyone. Jesus became your sin as He was nailed to the cross so that you can go free if you simply humble yourself, believe and then repent of your sins.
- God's suffering on the cross is a mystery to be understood, but it gives freedom to all who repent of their lawlessness and trust fully in Christ, who suffered that punishment on their behalf.
- Knowing that the Infinate God suffered and died for us, makes us realize His amazing love for us and that he wants None to perish, but all to come to repentance and faith in Him.

Those are simply some of the reasons.

Christians and Other Religions

Why do christains feel the need to put down people of other religons?

Now I'm not saying I have anything against Christians..but I have noticed lately that alot of them have been rude to people of other relgions...is there are reason for this? or are you just afraid to be accepting of other peoples beliefs? and please only serious answers......

If I seem rude, then I ask for forgiveness ahead of time.

Christians are passionate people. The reason is because they were taken out of a lifestyle of sin and immorality and totally forgiven by a God who is kind and Loving.

At the same time, they realize that they were saved. What were they saved from? God's wrath and eternal punishment.

Everything in nature points out that there is a God, and there can be only One God. The first question is to figure out what God is true, which would make all others liars. Islam and Christianity can not both be true. One says one thing, the other says the opposite. Islam can not co-exist with any other religion. Budhism may be able to say that there are many paths to divinity, but they have no explanation for why we exist or what our purpose is, but they do mysticism to try to contact the "divine" which is unknowable. They are purely irrational to the core. Athiesm is irrational and foolish. Christianity says that there is only one path to heaven and it is amazingly narrow. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the father but by me".

So when considering who God is, why we are here, and what belief is credible, only Christianity can give answers to these things. Not only that, but when you become a Christian, your life literally changes from the inside out.

So why are we so passionate? Because there is only one truth, and that is the Bible. The bible is God's inspired word. It was penned by men, but written by God. It is not only life transforming, but it gives you full assurance that when you die you will be in heaven for eternity, and it is NOT dependant on anything we do or say. It is dependant on God being faithful.

With God's Word, when you read it, you find out who God is and what He is like. You find out that He is Infinitely pure, and holy. You find out that he is perfect in all of His ways and that He can never lie about anything. You find out that he is Greater than your imagination can dream and you'll find that He loves Justice and all that is Good.

Now knowing these things, there quickly becomes a problem. The problem is sin. Man constantly sins against God, and every time anyone (including you) sin against God, you make yourself an enemy of God.

The reason is this. We were made in God's image. Just like a statue is the image of man, we are the image of God. Now when we sin against God, for instance tell a lie, we are in fact mis representing God. We are telling everyone that God is a liar even though God can tell no lie. In this way we offend God and make ourselves enemies of God.

Now knowing what we know, we know that God is Just. God gave us His law thousands of years ago, and wrote it in stone. It is his perfect moral law that we should be keeping. But the problem is we are self centered and self seeking. All of us. It is our nature.

So God gave His law, and we broke God's law. Every time we lie, we are a liar by God's standards. Every time we have ever taken anything that is not ours, we are thieves. We are blasphemers, and coveters. Jesus said that if you look with lust you've committed adultry in your heart, and few adults, especially these days have not done that.

So there's a big problem. God is Just, but we break His law. The bible says that when we stand before God on the day of Judgment, our lives will be judged based on the ten commandments, and if we judge ourselves honestly by those standards, the way God will Judge us, we will all be guilty before God. And the Bible says that there is either heaven or hell.

Do you see the problem? We are all in trouble, no matter what we believe. Clear thinking logic leads us to the bible, but the bible says that all men stand condemned before God, and in fact, by His great standards, we deserve it.

If God were our parents, then our punishment would be disobedience. If God were a Judge, our punishment would be prision. If God were the king of a nation, our punishment could be death. But since God is SO much bigger and holier and better than even the best of men, and since God is Infinate, beyond time itself, our punishment too will be forever.

That's the greatest delema of all time. How can God be Just and Good, and NOT send all of Humanity to Hell. If the Islam god were true, and the islam god would be seen as a bad and corrupt judge and he would be mocked by all of the demons of hell, because he let those who were wicked and immoral in heaven.

So if you died this moment and you stood before God, and you have committed offences against God, then you would be seen as a law breaker and you will be guilty, just like the rest of humanity.

So the question is, how can God resolve this? How can God not allow all mankind go to Hell where they deserve to be?

This is the crux of Christianity. God himself made a means to do it. God came down as a man and walked the perfect life. He told no lies, He never looked with lust. He never blasphemed, he never coveted. He lived the life that you or I can not live. Then Jesus went to the cross and blead and died as payment for my lawlessness and your lawlessness. His death on the cross paid the debt that we owe for sinning against God. So when Jesus was on the cross, he took God's wrath upon Himself instead of you and me. He paid the price of our breaking the law and He died in our stead. Then He rose again on the third day and ascended to Heaven.

It would be like you were found guilty of murder and deserved the death penalty. Just as you were being taken to the electric chair someone comes into the courtroom and says to the judge that he will take your punishment and you can go free. How would you feel towards that person? Would you be thankful? What would you owe him? Would it not be your life? Now, would you go out and murder again, knowing that that person died for you?

That is what Jesus did. Jesus paid the debt so we can be forgiven by God and set free. A Good Judge is bound by Justice, and must give fair and perfect punishment for the crime. But if you turn from your sinful ways and repent and ask for forgiveness, and throw yourself at God's mercy, and then trust that Jesus has already paid the fine for you, then the bible says you will be saved, and you will be guaranteed a place in heaven. You must trust in Jesus in the same way you would trust parachute to get you safely to the ground. You must grab on tight to the parachute for safety, and likewise you must always grab on tight to Jesus to be saved and taken to heaven. The bible says if you do this, you will start changing from the inside out, and start to not like the sins that you now like, and rather you will start to love the things God loves.

This is the passion, that God would come and save me, even while I was rejecting Him. The passion is that God is so good that he died as a payment for My sins. He paid the price for my eternal life, and for that I am eternally grateful, so much so, that I must tell others of this great thing God has done, not only in my own life, but for you and everyone. God has made a way to reconsile Himself with us wicked mankind, so that when we die, we will not go to heaven because we were good people, but rather we will go to heaven because we are wicked people saved by a Good God.

And that is why countless men and women even today would give up their lives for this salvation. In other countries where Christianity is not corrupt by society, men and women risk everything to be Christians, knowing that the government would throw them into prision or kill them if they found out.

When you find Christ, you are never the same. And when I speak to people who consider that there is no truth, all I can do is speak to them what the bible says and warn them.

Back to your question... is there are reason for this [being rude]? I'm not sure what you mean rude. Would you consider this rude? And who do you consider Christians? Be careful not to confuse passion, or scripture for being rude.

There is no need when you find truth to look anywhere else for it. Even if you do, all it does is confirm that what you have is truth. People do get angry when their beliefs are shown to be false. When you put your trust in something (friends, job, family, posessions, philosophies, religions), and they are proven to be wrong, it hurts, and many people do not want to give up their ignorance for truth. But Jesus has proven faithful and true for two thousand years. Man's traditions of religion and philosophies constantly change, but Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. He will never leave or forsake those who trust in Him.

You bring up fear. So far, in the years I have walked with Christ, I have no need to fear any of man's rationalities to try to disprove Christianity. Man will come and man will go, and the Earth will be destroyed, but the Word of God will always be.

Finally, please don't think telling the truth about other people's "religions" is doing wrong or insulting people. Rather all I can do is show people the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and let them either embrace it or run from it.

4) It doesn't make sense.

5) I don't want to believe the bible.

Is God Watching You?

Do you believe that God is watching you?

Giving up belief in Gods who watch from the sky does not mean that we will become immoral. Rather, it challenges us to re-examine all our moral systems and see which have good foundations in reality and which can be abandoned because they are relics of past moral systems that can no longer be defended rationally.

You already are immoral, if you believe in God or not. Immorality must be based on a standard, and the only standard that matters is those of the one who created and designed morals in the first place.

Society-based moral systems are as shify as a used car salesmen. Morals in societies get worse and worse over time, then war comes or some disaster, and people seek God again. Very few people are so shamelessly arrogant and prideful that they can claim athiesism from their death beds.

But IS God watching you and me? It doesn't matter what I believe on the matter, what matters is if it is true or not. Does God watch you? The bible says yes. The bible says God sees your thought life. Imagine there was a device that could read thoughts and display them visually on a screen. Now imagine this device had been planted on you for the past two weeks and there were 2 DVD's worth of video clips of your thought life for the past two weeks. If your friends and family and parents were brought to a room and watched your thought life for the past two weeks, would they consider you to be a moral person, after having seen all the thought you have thought?

That is what it will be like on the Last Day when God judges you in front of all the angels and everyone else. Your thoughts will be on display for everyone to see. Every lie, every lustful thought will be shown to everyone. And you will be put to shame as a criminal for breaking God's law in both thought and deed.

Whatever you think of "past moral systems" is will not matter on that day. You will be Judged by the same standard that all other men will be judged by; God's perfect law that He wrote in stone as the 10 commandments.

So if you died within the next 20 minutes, what you thought won't matter. You didn't think yourself into existance. You were designed before the creation of the world, and you will fufill your purpose in God's will in one of two ways.

You will either realize that you are indeed sinful to the core like the rest of us, and stop being self righteous. And you will seek and find God, and discover the only way to heaven. And once you truly repent and trust in Jesus as the only way to heaven, all of eternity you will thank God and praise God and glorify God for such a kind thing that He did to save a filthy sinner as yourself. God would then make you perfect and allow you to reside in heaven with Himself.

Or...

You will continue in your self righteousness and pride. You will continue to lust and lie, even having been warned that all liars will have their part in the lake of fire. You will continue in your sin, and the filth of your heart will increase over time. You will continue to hush your conscience that keeps screaming out to you that you are on the wrong path, and you will continue to fear death and the unknown. But that unknown is made known through God's word. It is appointed to all men once to die, then the judgment. God will judge you based on the 10 commandments and He will judge you based on the words of Jesus. When you do die in your sins, you will keep all of the wages for your sins. Every time you lied, God will give you justice for being a liar and a law breaker. Every time you stole or lusted or blasphemed, or didn't give God thanks, or denied God, or disobeyed your parents, your penalty will add up and up and up. Then when the last sin is tallied, you will be found guilty and you will be bound hand and foot and dragged out to outer darkness where there will be weaping and gnashing of teeth. This is the pit of Hell.

By this, you will fufill your purpose to Glorify God, because when you are tossed into Hell, all of the angels and all of the saved will glorify God for giving you Perfect Justice. In the same way a Judge will be found to be good and Just for sentencing a murder to prison or death, so much more will God be glorified for casting those who break His law into eternal flames.


A Few Scriptures to Consider:

Genesis 6:5 - The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

1 Peter 1:15-19 - but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy.’ And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

Romans 2:4-11 - Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who ‘will render to each one according to his deeds’: eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek; but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For there is no partiality with God.

1 Peter 5:7 - Let him have all your worries and cares, for he is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you.

Christian Hypocracy

Do you think some people who claim they are Christians are hyprocrites?

I am a Christian myself and I sincerely think some are hyprocrites. The bible says God hates divorce. But example, republicans(claims they are Christian) but yet when Bill Clinton had a BJ they are unhappy Hillary Clinton didn't divorce and say she is after his money and fame. Yet when USA claim itself a Christian nation but yet the divorce rate is one of the highest in the world. People having premarital sex which is a sin, BJ is not natural sex and so on so forth and infidelity in a marriage just to name a few. So much for some people who claims "Christian Value" What do you think?




I think what the bible says. First here is a list of the scriptures that deal with hypocracy.

Psalm 26:4-5 - I do not sit with men of falsehood, nor do I consort with hypocrites. I hate the assembly of evildoers, and I will not sit with the wicked.

This passage relates hypocracy with doing evil and being wicked.

Matthew 6:1-16 (View Here) Jesus mentions hypocracy 3 times in negative ways. Specifically to not be like hypocrites.

Jesus also mentions hypocracy or hypocrites in Matthew 7:5; Matthew 15:7; Matthew 22:18; Matthew 23:13-29; Matthew 24:51; Mark 7:6; Mark 12:15; Luke 6:42; Luke 12:1; Luke 12:56; and Luke 13:15;

We see in Galatians 2:13 that hypocracy leads people astray. "And the rest of the Jews acted hypocritically along with him, so that even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy."

And Peter said in 1 Peter 2:1 "So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander."

So hypocracy is wrong... Put simply, Yes. Hypocracy is wrong. Can Christians become Hypocrites?

11But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned. 12For before certain men came from James, he was eating with the Gentiles; but when they came he drew back and separated himself, fearing the circumcision party. 13And the rest of the Jews acted hypocritically along with him, so that even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy. 14But when I saw that their conduct was not in step with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before them all, "If you, though a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you force the Gentiles to live like Jews?"

Here we see a number of the apostles were eating with the Gentiles, but fearing the Jewish Christians, they acted hypocritically, because the Jewish Christians considered it wrong to eat with Gentiles. This action was being two-faced. Acting one way in front of some people, and then another way in front of others.

But when Paul called them on it, and shed light on their hypocracy, they repented and got right with God for their sin, and continued in the ministry until they were killed for their beliefs.

The best thing you can do when you see a "Christian" behaving hypocritically is to simply tell them the behavior you see. 1 of 2 things will happen. They will either do the right thing, repent and turn from their hypocracy or they will get angry or run away. You can tell that the person is a Christian if they repent to God and then change after being exposed for hypocracy. A true hypocrite, like the leaders of Jesus' day will get angry or slander anyone who opposes them, or just have nothing to do with the person who exposes them.
