Christians and Other Religions
Why do christains feel the need to put down people of other religons?
Now I'm not saying I have anything against Christians..but I have noticed lately that alot of them have been rude to people of other relgions...is there are reason for this? or are you just afraid to be accepting of other peoples beliefs? and please only serious answers......
Answer
If I seem rude, then I ask for forgiveness ahead of time.
Christians are passionate people. The reason is because they were taken out of a lifestyle of sin and immorality and totally forgiven by a God who is kind and Loving.
At the same time, they realize that they were saved. What were they saved from? God's wrath and eternal punishment.
Everything in nature points out that there is a God, and there can be only One God. The first question is to figure out what God is true, which would make all others liars. Islam and Christianity can not both be true. One says one thing, the other says the opposite. Islam can not co-exist with any other religion. Budhism may be able to say that there are many paths to divinity, but they have no explanation for why we exist or what our purpose is, but they do mysticism to try to contact the "divine" which is unknowable. They are purely irrational to the core. Athiesm is irrational and foolish. Christianity says that there is only one path to heaven and it is amazingly narrow. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the father but by me".
So when considering who God is, why we are here, and what belief is credible, only Christianity can give answers to these things. Not only that, but when you become a Christian, your life literally changes from the inside out.
So why are we so passionate? Because there is only one truth, and that is the Bible. The bible is God's inspired word. It was penned by men, but written by God. It is not only life transforming, but it gives you full assurance that when you die you will be in heaven for eternity, and it is NOT dependant on anything we do or say. It is dependant on God being faithful.
With God's Word, when you read it, you find out who God is and what He is like. You find out that He is Infinitely pure, and holy. You find out that he is perfect in all of His ways and that He can never lie about anything. You find out that he is Greater than your imagination can dream and you'll find that He loves Justice and all that is Good.
Now knowing these things, there quickly becomes a problem. The problem is sin. Man constantly sins against God, and every time anyone (including you) sin against God, you make yourself an enemy of God.
The reason is this. We were made in God's image. Just like a statue is the image of man, we are the image of God. Now when we sin against God, for instance tell a lie, we are in fact mis representing God. We are telling everyone that God is a liar even though God can tell no lie. In this way we offend God and make ourselves enemies of God.
Now knowing what we know, we know that God is Just. God gave us His law thousands of years ago, and wrote it in stone. It is his perfect moral law that we should be keeping. But the problem is we are self centered and self seeking. All of us. It is our nature.
So God gave His law, and we broke God's law. Every time we lie, we are a liar by God's standards. Every time we have ever taken anything that is not ours, we are thieves. We are blasphemers, and coveters. Jesus said that if you look with lust you've committed adultry in your heart, and few adults, especially these days have not done that.
So there's a big problem. God is Just, but we break His law. The bible says that when we stand before God on the day of Judgment, our lives will be judged based on the ten commandments, and if we judge ourselves honestly by those standards, the way God will Judge us, we will all be guilty before God. And the Bible says that there is either heaven or hell.
Do you see the problem? We are all in trouble, no matter what we believe. Clear thinking logic leads us to the bible, but the bible says that all men stand condemned before God, and in fact, by His great standards, we deserve it.
If God were our parents, then our punishment would be disobedience. If God were a Judge, our punishment would be prision. If God were the king of a nation, our punishment could be death. But since God is SO much bigger and holier and better than even the best of men, and since God is Infinate, beyond time itself, our punishment too will be forever.
That's the greatest delema of all time. How can God be Just and Good, and NOT send all of Humanity to Hell. If the Islam god were true, and the islam god would be seen as a bad and corrupt judge and he would be mocked by all of the demons of hell, because he let those who were wicked and immoral in heaven.
So if you died this moment and you stood before God, and you have committed offences against God, then you would be seen as a law breaker and you will be guilty, just like the rest of humanity.
So the question is, how can God resolve this? How can God not allow all mankind go to Hell where they deserve to be?
This is the crux of Christianity. God himself made a means to do it. God came down as a man and walked the perfect life. He told no lies, He never looked with lust. He never blasphemed, he never coveted. He lived the life that you or I can not live. Then Jesus went to the cross and blead and died as payment for my lawlessness and your lawlessness. His death on the cross paid the debt that we owe for sinning against God. So when Jesus was on the cross, he took God's wrath upon Himself instead of you and me. He paid the price of our breaking the law and He died in our stead. Then He rose again on the third day and ascended to Heaven.
It would be like you were found guilty of murder and deserved the death penalty. Just as you were being taken to the electric chair someone comes into the courtroom and says to the judge that he will take your punishment and you can go free. How would you feel towards that person? Would you be thankful? What would you owe him? Would it not be your life? Now, would you go out and murder again, knowing that that person died for you?
That is what Jesus did. Jesus paid the debt so we can be forgiven by God and set free. A Good Judge is bound by Justice, and must give fair and perfect punishment for the crime. But if you turn from your sinful ways and repent and ask for forgiveness, and throw yourself at God's mercy, and then trust that Jesus has already paid the fine for you, then the bible says you will be saved, and you will be guaranteed a place in heaven. You must trust in Jesus in the same way you would trust parachute to get you safely to the ground. You must grab on tight to the parachute for safety, and likewise you must always grab on tight to Jesus to be saved and taken to heaven. The bible says if you do this, you will start changing from the inside out, and start to not like the sins that you now like, and rather you will start to love the things God loves.
This is the passion, that God would come and save me, even while I was rejecting Him. The passion is that God is so good that he died as a payment for My sins. He paid the price for my eternal life, and for that I am eternally grateful, so much so, that I must tell others of this great thing God has done, not only in my own life, but for you and everyone. God has made a way to reconsile Himself with us wicked mankind, so that when we die, we will not go to heaven because we were good people, but rather we will go to heaven because we are wicked people saved by a Good God.
And that is why countless men and women even today would give up their lives for this salvation. In other countries where Christianity is not corrupt by society, men and women risk everything to be Christians, knowing that the government would throw them into prision or kill them if they found out.
When you find Christ, you are never the same. And when I speak to people who consider that there is no truth, all I can do is speak to them what the bible says and warn them.
Back to your question... is there are reason for this [being rude]? I'm not sure what you mean rude. Would you consider this rude? And who do you consider Christians? Be careful not to confuse passion, or scripture for being rude.
>or are you just afraid to be accepting of other peoples beliefs?
There is no need when you find truth to look anywhere else for it. Even if you do, all it does is confirm that what you have is truth. People do get angry when their beliefs are shown to be false. When you put your trust in something (friends, job, family, posessions, philosophies, religions), and they are proven to be wrong, it hurts, and many people do not want to give up their ignorance for truth. But Jesus has proven faithful and true for two thousand years. Man's traditions of religion and philosophies constantly change, but Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. He will never leave or forsake those who trust in Him.
You bring up fear. So far, in the years I have walked with Christ, I have no need to fear any of man's rationalities to try to disprove Christianity. Man will come and man will go, and the Earth will be destroyed, but the Word of God will always be.
Finally, please don't think telling the truth about other people's "religions" is doing wrong or insulting people. Rather all I can do is show people the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and let them either embrace it or run from it.
So why aren't you a Christian?
