Christian Hypocracy

Do you think some people who claim they are Christians are hyprocrites?

I am a Christian myself and I sincerely think some are hyprocrites. The bible says God hates divorce. But example, republicans(claims they are Christian) but yet when Bill Clinton had a BJ they are unhappy Hillary Clinton didn't divorce and say she is after his money and fame. Yet when USA claim itself a Christian nation but yet the divorce rate is one of the highest in the world. People having premarital sex which is a sin, BJ is not natural sex and so on so forth and infidelity in a marriage just to name a few. So much for some people who claims "Christian Value" What do you think?

I think what the bible says. First here is a list of the scriptures that deal with hypocracy.

Psalm 26:4-5 - I do not sit with men of falsehood, nor do I consort with hypocrites. I hate the assembly of evildoers, and I will not sit with the wicked.

This passage relates hypocracy with doing evil and being wicked.

Matthew 6:1-16 (View Here) Jesus mentions hypocracy 3 times in negative ways. Specifically to not be like hypocrites.

Jesus also mentions hypocracy or hypocrites in Matthew 7:5; Matthew 15:7; Matthew 22:18; Matthew 23:13-29; Matthew 24:51; Mark 7:6; Mark 12:15; Luke 6:42; Luke 12:1; Luke 12:56; and Luke 13:15;

We see in Galatians 2:13 that hypocracy leads people astray. "And the rest of the Jews acted hypocritically along with him, so that even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy."

And Peter said in 1 Peter 2:1 "So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander."

So hypocracy is wrong... Put simply, Yes. Hypocracy is wrong. Can Christians become Hypocrites?

Let's take a closer look at Galatians 2

11But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned. 12For before certain men came from James, he was eating with the Gentiles; but when they came he drew back and separated himself, fearing the circumcision party. 13And the rest of the Jews acted hypocritically along with him, so that even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy. 14But when I saw that their conduct was not in step with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before them all, "If you, though a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you force the Gentiles to live like Jews?"

Here we see a number of the apostles were eating with the Gentiles, but fearing the Jewish Christians, they acted hypocritically, because the Jewish Christians considered it wrong to eat with Gentiles. This action was being two-faced. Acting one way in front of some people, and then another way in front of others.

But when Paul called them on it, and shed light on their hypocracy, they repented and got right with God for their sin, and continued in the ministry until they were killed for their beliefs.

The best thing you can do when you see a "Christian" behaving hypocritically is to simply tell them the behavior you see. 1 of 2 things will happen. They will either do the right thing, repent and turn from their hypocracy or they will get angry or run away. You can tell that the person is a Christian if they repent to God and then change after being exposed for hypocracy. A true hypocrite, like the leaders of Jesus' day will get angry or slander anyone who opposes them, or just have nothing to do with the person who exposes them.

I hope this makes sense.
